The popular plumeria

Ubiquitous in Hawaiʻi, where it is known as plumeria, the fragrant tropical relative of periwinkle is native to Mexico (where it is called cacalloxochitl), Central America and Venezuela. University of Hawaiʻi horticulturalist Richard Criley is the resident expert (and nationally sought speaker) on the many-colored species also known as kalachuchi in the Philippines and champa in Laos.
