The Department of Homeland Security requires that ISS must ensure that students have received the new version of the form I-20 by July 1, 2016. After July 1, 2016, previous versions of the form cannot be used to support:
- Visa applications
- Entry into the United States
- Applications for a social security number or driver's license

J-1 online class restrictions
Effective fall semester 2016, J-1 students will no longer be able to use online class credit hours to meet the minimum full-time enrollment requirement of 12 credit hours for undergraduate students, 8 credit hours for graduate students, or 6 credit hours for graduate assistants. But, after meeting the minimum full-time enrollment requirement by registering for in-class or hybrid classes, then J-1 students may enroll in any number of online class credit hours.
