On September 14-15 2015, the UH ITS Cyberinfrastructure department along with Clemson University and the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) put on a free workshop that covered the basic architecture and usage of the Intel Xeon Phi and Stampede cluster for a group of  more than 50 participants. The presenters from TACC Kent Milfeld, Lei Huang and Cyrus Proctor introduced the attendees to using the Intel Xeon Phi at a level for both novice and advanced programmers including basic usage and automatic offload to native, symmetric and offload execution models.
