Biotechnology & Molecular Science

The College offers a Certificate in biotechnology, offering courses in immunology and protein chemistry (MICR 161), molecular biology (MICR 230), cell biology (BIOL 275) and tissue culture (MICR 240). Other collaborations also exist with the Center for Genomics, Proteomics and Bioinformatics Research at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Student interns will partner with local companies who specialize in proteomics and molecular science such as Hawaii Biotech. Interns will help maintain cell lines, grow up bacteria, prepare antigen, run immunoassays, as well as agarose and 2-D electrophoreses and western blots, etc.
