Space Science & Engineering

A focus on Hawaiian astronomy and navigation takes students into space research and engineering. Student internships and undergraduate research opportunities will focus on engineering design projects, such as the NASA Space Grant CANSAT satellite design competition, and the Hawaii Underwater ROV design competition. Students will conduct undergraduate research with College faculty and be placed in internships with the Hawaii Space Grant Consortium, the College of Engineering at UH Manoa, or other programs, Hawaiian Electric Company, or other programs.

      PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

      This project will provide hands-on experience in design and development with the goal to remotely monitor environmental conditions. In order to facilitate remote monitoring, the combination of wireless technology, microcontroller programming, sensor interfacing, and analog to digital conversion will be required. Post-collection processing may also be performed to visualize or correlate the gathered data to produce quick understandable results.
