Main Stage » Oklahoma!
Music by Richard Rodgers
Book, Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II
Directed by Lurana Donnels O'Malley
Musical Direction by Phil Hidalgo
Choreography by Harmony S. L. Aguilera and Cindy Hartigan
Change is in the air in the Oklahoma Territory in 1906. Statehood is imminent; ranchers and farmers struggle to put aside differences; Curly wrestles with his future. As Laurey makes the transition from girl to woman, dreams intercept reality. Some of Rodgers and Hammerstein's most memorable songs blend with dance and story in a fresh interpretation of this landmark musical. Recommended for ages 11 and above.
Based on the play Green Grow the Lilacs by Lynn Riggs. Original dances by Agnes de Mille. Presented in collaboration with the UHM Music Department.
OKLAHOMA! is presented through special arrangement with R&H Theatricals @ www.rnh.com.
OKLAHOMA! is supported in part by the Hawai`i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts through appropriations from the Hawai`i State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.
