UHM KENNEDY THEATRE PRESENTS “FOOTHOLDS III: FLY HIGH, FALL SILENTLY”

The University of Hawai‘i at Manoa’s Department of Theatre and Dance presents “Footholds III: Fly High Fall Silently.” This year’s performance features new choreography by Jennifer Butler. “Footholds III” is part of the Kennedy Theatre Prime Time Season and will be performed Wednesday, May 7 through Saturday, May 10 at 8pm and on Sunday, May 11 at 2pm in Kennedy's Earle Ernst Lab Theatre.

Jennifer Butler, MFA Candidate in Dance, is choreographing an entire program of dance in “Footholds III: Fly High, Fall Silently” (replacing the previously announced “A Night at the Catwalk Club.”) The first half of the program will include performances of modern dance, capoeira and comic dance. In the second half she will present her multi-media piece, “Question of Water,” in partial fulfillment of her MFA and in celebration of the United Nation’s International Year of Fresh Water.

Butler has previously appeared in Kennedy Theatre’s “Dance Korea” and “Eco Circus” on the Mainstage and several “Footholds” productions in the Earle Ernst Lab Theatre as choreographer and performer. She is in her third year as a member of the UHM Dance Ensemble, the department’s community outreach program. She and the dancers will for discuss the creative and rehearsal process in a post show rap on May 9.

Tickets for "Footholds III: Fly High Fall Silently" will go on sale Monday, May 5 at the Kennedy Theatre Box Office. Tickets may be purchased in person or charged-by-phone at the Kennedy Theatre Box office Monday through Friday from 10am to 3pm. Ticket prices are $9 Regular, $7 discount for students, seniors, military, and UH faculty/staff, and $3 UHM students with a validated Spring 2003 ID.
