23, 2004 MUSICAL VERSION OF LISA MATSUMOTO’S AWARD-WINNING CHILDREN’S BOOK RETURNS TO KENNEDY THEATRE!
The University of Hawai'i at M Under the direction of Montgomery, "How Da B-52 Cockroach Learned to Fly" has new staging and a fresh musical score by Nick Kenworthy-Browne to underscore the tale of Kimo and his friends as they encounter such colorful characters as "da moving company ants" and "da deconstruction business termites" in their search for a way to fit in and contribute to the insect kingdom. Discovering an aptitude for altitude - Kimo and friends find their hidden talents and form their dive-bombing squad the C.A.C.A. - "da Courageous Aiah Combat Avengas!" Lisa Matsumoto, Hawai#i's popular pidgin playwright, has delighted audiences of all ages for more than a decade. First launched on the Kennedy Theatre mainstage, Matsumoto’s "Once Upon One Time" and "Once Upon One Noddah Time," remain popular even today. Matsumoto has expanded her talents into a full time theatre company, Ohia Productions, that specializes in family entertainment that presents issues that are environmentally and socially relevant. Tickets go on sale at the Kennedy Theatre Box Office, at outlets, and on the internet on September 7. Ticket prices are $15 regular; $12 seniors, military, UH Faculty/staff, $10 Non-UHM students and children; and $3 for UHM students with validated UHM Fall 2004 I.D.
