A (BALINESE) TEMPEST

In this unusual adaptation of Shakespeare’s most musical and magical play, guest artist Larry Reed fuses Balinese and Elizabethan elements with his hallmark shadowcasting method, which utilizes a giant screen & live performers to create a magical shadow theatre performance. The production will also feature live musical accompaniment by the UH Balinese Gamelan Ensemble.
Teach Shakespeare’s Tempest in Fall 2007 or Spring 2008 classes, and we will have educational events and information to supplement your teaching.

THE SERVANT OF MANY MASTERS
Directed by Paul T. Mitri
April 11, 12, 17, 18, 19 at 8pm - April 20 at 2pm
This newly worked twist on Goldoni’s The Servant of Two Masters, tells the story of a servant who mistakenly gets employed by more than one master and spends all his time trying not to get caught. Added to the mix are a fiancé returned from the dead, girls dressed as guys, guys dressed as girls, a play within a play, and guest improvisers to keep things funny and fresh!
For teachers of English or theatre, The Servant of Many Masters production provides the opportunity to teach about classic comic characters and devices, Italy’s commedia dell’arte, and the farcical hilarity of France’s Molière.
