COURSE DESCRIPTION
 
 

For fall and spring semesters (15 weeks each) 4 credits per class.

Meet four hours a week plus audio-visual laboratory and computer work. Emphasis on listening and speaking skills in social situations. Focus on developing vocabulary in high-occurrence sentence patterns, relating to basic survival situations, reading and writing material relating to survival needs in simple and short sentences.


 

For fall and spring semesters (15 weeks each) 4 credits per class.

Meet four hours a week plus audio-visual laboratory and computer work. This class is the continuation of 102. Pre: 102 or equivalent. Focus on various aspects of Khmer culture, as well as the social and linguistic aspect of the language. To perfect connected discourse particularly for simple and narrative description. Emphasis on reading Khmer folklore stories and current situations. Focus on writing short essay.


 

For fall and spring semesters (15 weeks each) 3 credits per class.

Meet three hours a week plus audio-visual laboratory and computer work. Continuation of 202. Advanced reading, writing, conversation and comprehension. Emphasis on modern contemporary texts. Computer assisted learning. Lab work. Pre: 202 or equivalent.

Meet three hours a week plus audio-visual laboratory and computer work. Continuation of CAM 301-302. Computer assisted learning. The course aims to develop students' proficiency in advanced reading in current literature; analyze, evaluate and discuss the social and cultural implication; focus on advanced conversation and composition.

This course focuses on advanced reading, writing, aural comprehension and speaking skills through the study of Khmer newspaper, radio, TV, audio/video clips, and film.

Cambodian Directed Reading (IP 399-499)
 

Special directed study courses are for advanced students in Khmer literature, culture and linguistics based on the availability of funding. All of these courses are taught by Dr.Chhany Sak-Humphry.
