Kuaana is the Hawaiian
term for older sibling. With this position in the ohana,
the kuaana assumes the responsibility of taking care of
the younger sibling. At Kuaana Native Hawaiian Student
Development Services, there are kuaana (in terms of experiences
at UHM who take care of our kaina students (younger sibling)
by making sure that they receive as much kokua as they need
to achieve their academic goals. |
