Alumni and Reciprocity

Our Career Services Office is committed to our alumni. We provide information and counseling regarding career-related issues and concerns. Our career services for graduates include:

  • Job Listing Service
  • Job Bulletin Exchange
  • Career Resource Library
  • Career Counseling
  • Reciprocity Services

WSRSL alumni are welcome to visit our office, use our resource materials, and attend career services programs held throughout the academic year.

Job Listing Service

We regularly receive job announcements from public and private sector employers interested in recruiting WSRSL alumni.

*Please note that we are currently transitioning to a new online service. Our eAttorney service ended March 31, 2006 and access to our new service will be available starting July 1, 2006. In the interim, we will post job notices via our current career services email list. For our alumni who would like to added to this list, please contact our office.

Job Bulletin Exchange

Our Career Services office exchanges job bulletins with other ABA accredited law schools across the United States. These job bulletins are a valuable resource for alumni interested in working out-of-state and the bulletins are available in the Career Resource Library (Room 115).

Career Resource Library

We maintain a Career Resource Library (CRL) in Room 115 at the Law School. The CRL is a resource center of materials helpful to graduates seeking career information and guidance. Our CRL inventory includes:

  • Binders containing hardcopies of job notices and information about legal positions throughout Hawai'i and the United States as well as international opportunities
  • Special files containing employer information and brochures
  • Job Bulletins from other law schools
  • Directories, books, publications, periodicals, and videotapes
  • Selected articles helpful to address a wide variety of career issues
  • Directories and information about LL.M. programs offered throughout the nation and internationally

Many of the CRL's hardcopy resources can be checked out for 72 hours and over weekends. We also have a computer with internet access available for your use.

Career Counseling

Our Career Services staff is available to meet with graduates about career-related issues, including:

  • Counseling for traditional and non-traditional careers
  • Resume and cover letter review
  • Job search strategies and development
  • Interviewing tips

To schedule an appointment, please contact our office at (808) 956-7966.

Reciprocity Services for Alumni

If you have moved away from Hawai'i or plan to move soon, we have reciprocity services available to help you. Reciprocity allows our office to request career services assistance from other law schools. Many law schools offer reciprocity grantees access to job listings, career resource materials, and limited career counseling.

Reciprocity policies differ from school to school. You should research reciprocity policies of law schools in your new area here and select the reciprocity services that best fit your needs. Once you have made your selection(s), contact Amy Wiecking, our Director of Career Services, to begin the process. Also, please feel free to review our WSRSL Reciprocity Policy.

Please note that we cannot guarantee that a law school will grant our reciprocity request. Also, reciprocity services are unavailable at most law schools during the fall recruiting season.

Information for Reciprocity Grantees

We welcome third-year students and graduates from other ABA-accredited law schools to request reciprocity with our career services office. Please read our Reciprocity Policy for further details. If you have questions, please feel free to contact our Career Services office.

Important note: Our reciprocity program will be suspended for the 2008-2009 academic year, beginning June 1, 2008. We appreciate your understanding as we welcome our first class of part-time students.
