The University of Hawaii's Law School's rigorous academic program provides a strong foundation in all substantive areas of law. All LL.M. students are required to take two foundational courses - Introduction to the U.S. Legal System (2 units of credit) and Legal Research (1 unit of credit) in their first semester. Students will satisfy their remaining course requirements over the two semesters by enrolling in courses and seminars from among those offered in the J.D. program.
First year courses examine the foundations of the legal system and introduce students to lawyering skills. Most of the upper-division courses listed are taught every year. Some are taught periodically, depending on student interest and faculty availability. New courses are regularly added to the upper-division curriculum.
