The Law Schools 2008 Jurists in Residence Program featured U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Stephen Breyer and his wife Dr. Joanna Breyer, with Judge Myron Bright, Senior Judge of the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals. The week began with a morning reception, welcomed by our 'Anuenue students and was filled with lectures each day and activities and events. Along with a law school dinner hosted at the beautiful private residence of alumni Gary Galiher and Dianne Ono, the Breyers were treated to canoe paddling with Judge Mike Town, law students Malama Min, Noah Gibson, Ka'upena Soong and Morissa Luning, and 2007 graduate Brad Saito. They also enjoyed a private snorkeling tour at Hanauma Bay, hosted by Mayor Mufi Hannemann, deputy director of environmental services Gail Haraguchi, Hanauma Bay manager Alan Hong, and the entire water safety crew. Justice Breyer took part in a lively, packed house Law Review Symposium on the Doe v. Kamehameha panel discussion. The week ended with a heartfelt Aloha 'oe celebration, with song by Prof. Jon Osorio, and gifts from our student organizations. We thank everyone involved in making this year's Jurists in Residence program a wonderful event.
The Law School was privileged to cohost the Dan & Maggie Inouye Distinguished Chair documentarian Fred Wiseman and his wife and law professor Zipporah Wiseman. The campus was treated to a week long film series featuring Mr. Wiseman's documentaries and his retrospective on each film. We thank everyone who made this event a success.
