In 2005, the William S. Richardson School of Law entered into a partnership with the Department of Human Services and the Family Court of the First Circuit to look at ways in which services to children and families could be improved. The first summer interns were hired in the summer of 2005. During the summer, they worked on two initiatives. The first was to design an evaluation model for the Ho`olōkahi program, and the second was to design a pre-trial hearings process for child welfare cases. Future work will build upon these projects.
