Doris: Born and raised in New York City, Doris graduated cum laude from New York University with a dual degree in history and psychology. Her interest in Asian legal systems, particularly Chinese law, stems from a semester abroad in Nanjing China and travels throughout China and Southeast Asia. Doris is an editor of the Asian-Pacific Law & Policy Journal and is pursuing a PALS certificate. She is also the President of the Pacific-Asian Legal Studies Organization. After law school, Doris plans to start her law career in Hawaii.
Scott: Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Scott attended the University of Michigan and taught English in Nagoya, Japan through the JET Programme after graduation. He is pursuing a joint J.D.-M.A. degree at the Law School and at U.H. Mānoa's School of Pacific and Asian Studies. Scott chose the Law School because of the unique opportunity it provides to study Asian law and society in an interdisciplinary environment. He is particularly interested in Korea and Japan, and in studying legal history, human rights law, immigration law, and international law.

Linda: Originally from Honolulu, Hawaii, Linda is the Secretary of the Pacific Asian Legal Studies Organization (PALSO). She graduated from Georgetown University in 2006 with a B.S. in International Politics. During her undergraduate career, Linda studied both Spanish and Korean. Her interest is in Korean and Japanese comparative law. After graduation, Linda briefly worked at a personal injury law firm in Washington, D.C. While at the Law School, she plans to focus on international law and pursue a PALS certificate.
John: is interested in East Asian comparative and international law with emphases on the legal systems of Japan and Korea, cross-border commercial transactions, and intellectual property law. Before law school he worked as an engineer, technology consultant, and business manager for nine years, specializing in marketing and transactional solutions for major automotive, healthcare, and high technology companies in the U.S. and Japan. John also served six years in the U.S. Marine Corps, including tours of duty in East Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. He earned his B.A in Japanese Studies at the University of California-San Diego and has lived and worked in both urban and rural Japan. Following graduation, John will join an American law firm in Tokyo.
Na: Originally from Qingdao, China, Na earned her B.S. degree in atmospheric science from Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology, and worked on climate studies in UH Department of Meteorology for two years. In 2007, she was awarded an Advocates for Public Interest Law Grant for her summer internship at Na Loio Immigrant Rights and Public Interest Legal Center. Na is interested in commercial transactions and intellectual property. She is pursuing a PALS certificate, focusing on Chinese legal studies.

Andrew: Born and Raised in Hawaii, Andrew graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 2005 with Bachelors of Arts in economics and political science. This background led to his interest in emerging Asian market economies, particularly economic development in Vietnam. Andrew is currently the Comments Editor for the Asian-Pacific Law & Policy Journal, and was formerly a Vice President of the Pacific-Asian Legal Studies Organization. After completing law school, Andrew plans to begin his legal career in Hawaii.

Chris: Born and raised in Vermont, Chris graduated from American University in 2000 with a B.A. in International Studies. While in college, Chris spent semesters abroad in Argentina and Nepal and taught English in China for six months. After college, she worked with Burmese refugees in Thailand for 2 1/2 years. Chris spent the summers of 2006 and 2007 as a State Department intern in the Political/Economic section of the U.S. Embassy in Burma. Her 2007 internship was funded by the Sam L. Cohen Human Rights Foundation Fellowship. After law school, Chris plans to pursue a career related to human rights law.
Matthew: Born and raised in Kailua, Hawaii, Matt graduated magna cum laude from New York University with a degree in Politics. His interest in Chinese law began in college and has included several trips to Asia. He has taken numerous classes at the Law School focusing on different aspects of Far East and Southeast Asian law. In his second year, he was a member of the Intellectual Property and Technology Moot Court Team. Matt plans to complete a PALS certificate and after graduation will join a commercial law practice in Honolulu.
