
Each year the School of Law also invites distinguished visitors from Asia and the Pacific to teach short-term specialized courses in its PALS curriculum. Recent visitors have included Professor Chongkol Choi and Keun-Gwan Lee of Seoul National University. Professor Takashi Maruta of Kwansei Gakuin University and Professor Tsuyoshi Kotaka, professor of administrative law at Meijo University have both taught specialized courses in Japanese law in recent years. In the 2005-2006 academic year, we welcomed Professor Koh Kheng Lian, an environmental law expert from the National University of Singapore, and Professor Wang Zhenmin, a constitutional law expert from Tsinghua University in Beijing.

During 2006-07, Professor Tsung-fu Chen of National Taiwan University taught Legal Reform in Taiwan; Professor Andrew Halkyard of the University of Hong Kong taught Asian-Pacific Taxation and Tax Planning; and Professor Setsuo Miyazawa of Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo taught a course on Judicial Reform in Japan. In 2007-08, Dean Wan Meng of Beijing Foreign Studies University’s School of Law, a specialist in international business and investment law, taught Chinese Business Law; Professor Jae-Hyup Lee of Seoul National University taught Law and Society in Korea; and Professor Gordon Walker of La Trobe University in Melbourne taught Comparative Corporate Law, focusing on Asian and Pacific jurisdictions.
