| JENNIFER "Jena" TANAKA has just joined administration as the Public Relations/Alumni Relations/ Development Specialist working with EILEEN BROMS and CAROL MON LEE. Jena was most recently with Starr Seigle McCombs Advertising and prior to that, was the assistant to the director at the UH Conference Center. MIRABAI BREEMER will continue to work with Eileen on Development matters. Jena will be located temporarily in Room 217. The recent First Amendment Forum co-sponsored by the Law School Friends Board and the Waikiki Improvement Association will be shown on Olelo - Channel 54: Tues., 11/21/00 at 6:00 PM, Fri., 11/24/00 at 5:30 PM, Wed., 11/29/00 at 6:00 PM and Sat., 12/9/00 at 10:30 AM. |

| DANIELLE CONWAY-JONES is a co-host at the Computer Law Association's Fall 2000 Round Table Luncheon Meeting on Nov. 13 to be held at Cades Schutte Fleming & Wright. The Law School is also a co-sponsor of the program. Round tables are held regularly around the country to discuss critical issues in computer law. KAREN GEBBIA-PINETTI was a speaker at the ABA Business Law Section, Claims and Priorities Subcommittee Program on "Tort Claims in Nursing Home Bankruptcies" in October. Prof. Pinetti will be the Program Chair and Moderator at the March 2001 ABA Business Law Section Joint Meeting / Progran of the Claims and Priorities, Professional Ethics in Bankruptcy, and Claims Trading Subcommittees" Attorney Liability, Fee Disgorgement and Other Terrors in Filing, Objecting to, and Trading Bankruptcy Claims." She is also the Program Chair, Moderator and Speaker at the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges 2001 Annual Meeting on "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Interpreting the Bankruptcy Code." MARK LEVIN was the featured speaker at the HSBA International Law Committee meeting last week at Bays Deaver Hiatt Lung & Rose. Prof. Levin's topic was "The Framework Convention on Tobacco Control: Can International Law Prevent Tobacco-Induced Death?" JON VAN DYKE just returned from Korea where he spoke at "The ROK Constitution and the Law of Return: Implications & Comparative Perspectives," conference at Ewha Women's University in Seoul. The conference was co-sponsered by the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research. Prof. Van Dyke's topic was the "The Issues Raised Under International Law by Korean Reunification." |

| SETH HARRIS 3L and LEILANI TAN 2L returned from the 2000 Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition. Leilani received the Best Oralist award in the Preliminaries! Our team also placed 8th in the memorial rankings. MARIA ESTANISLAO 3L also helped on the brief. There were 55 competitors including participants from India, Spain, Austria, and Bolivia. Congratulations! BARBARA WONG 1L was interviewed and photographed for an in-depth story in Diane Yukihiro Chang's column in the Star Bulletin recently "A Top Cop Retires To Hit The Law Books." MAX HANNEMAN 1L and his wife Miyuki are the proud parents of baby girl Tiana, born on Halloween and weighing in at 7 lbs and 7 oz. Our school's "Under 5feet 10 Intramural B League Basketball Team" recently won the intramural B league championship! SEAN ELAMETO 3L |
