Faculty

DENISE ANTOLINI was recently elected as the new Chair of the HSBA Natural Resources Section for 2001. The section has over 120 members statewide who practice environmental and natural resources law in the private, public, and public interest sectors, as well as several WSRSL students interested in the field. The newly elected Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect of the Section is PETER KNAPMAN '97 of Alston Hunt Floyd & Ing.

JON VAN DYKE has been interviewed several times on local television recently regarding the presidential elections. PROF. VAN DYKE was seen on Channel 2 morning show with Kirk Matthews and Leslie Wilcox two times in less than two weeks and was also interviewed by Barbara Marshall for Channel 8 (NBC).

CRYSTAL ASANO 3L gave birth to baby boy Ethan on November 25. He weighed in at 5lbs 12 oz! Congratulations to Crystal and family.

LAW REVIEW accepted for publication in its Winter 2000 edition the following articles: "The United States and the International Criminal Court: Legal Potential for Non-Party State Jurisdiction" by SETH HARRIS (3L), "Cruelty to Animals: Recognizing Violence Against Non-Human Victims" by BETH MADELINE (3L), "In the Best Inerests of the Child: Juvenile Justice or Adult Retribution?" by LISETTE BLUMHART (3L), and "VAWA II's Retention of the 'Extreme Hardship' Standard for Battered Women in Cancellation of Removal Cases: Not Your Typical Deportation Case" by LEILA ROTHWELL (3L). Congratulations to these writers, and to their Law Review editor, DARCY KISHIDA (3L).

DAVID WARNER 2L can be seen at UH Manoa's Department of Theatre and Dance's Prime Time Lab Theatre production of the 2000-2001 season: "Machinal." It will play November 29 through December 2 at 8pm and December 3 at 2pm.

APLPJ was chosen as one of two finalists for the 1st Annual Pono Tech Awards in the Education category. The Pono Tech Award motivates organizations in Hawaii to use technology to capitalize on the opportunities of the new economy. The Award Luncheon will take place on December 6th, at 12:30pm-2:15pm, at the Hawaii Convention Center. It is sponsored by the Bank of Hawaii and is being held in conjunction with the ITEC Hawaii Technology Showcase.

Alumni

DAVID LINK '90 has joined the Wichita Kansas law firm of Monnat & Spurrier practicing criminal defense and immigration law. DAVID was previously in private practice in Guam.

JENNIFER REID CERVENKA '95 recently joined the law firm of McGovern Noel & Benik in Providence, Rhode Island where she is concentrating in litigation, environmental law and regulatory matters. JENNIFER was previously in private practice in Boston.
