| HAZEL BEH was recently appointed to serve on the advisory board for the AALS Contracts Section. She was also recently appointed to the UH Governance Committee for the WASC Accreditation Report and the Hawaii Chapter of the American Judicature Society Committee to study a single tier judiciary. DAVID CALLIES and J. DAVID BREEMER '01's article, "The Right to Exclude Others From Private Property: A Fundamental Constitutional Right" was recently published in the Washington University Journal of Law & Policy, Vol. 3, 2000. |

| ERIC YAMAMOTO and SUSAN SERRANO '98 recently co-authored an articled that appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle, January 12, 2001 on the civil rights case Alexander vs. Sandoval heard by the U.S. Supreme Court this past Tuesday. |

| The members of the HISPANIC MOOT COURT TEAM (DAISY HARTSFIELD 2L, DESIREE HIKIDA 2L, and LIZ ROBINSON 3L) received an award from the Bank of Hawaii Scholarship for Educational Enrichment to help defray expenses to attend the competition scheduled for early March in San Francisco. In addition, Hawaiian Airlines has donated airline coupons for the team's travel. |
| The Hawaii State Bar Association's Natural Resources Section has selected 2Ls SHIRLEY GARCIA and LE'A KANEHE as its first fellows for the Minority Fellowship in Environmental Law. The fellowship is funded by section members and matching funds from the American Bar Association's Environment, Energy and Resources Section. Shirley and Le'a will receive a minimum of $2500 to work in the public sector of environmental law for the 2001 summer. Congratulations to them both! |

| The Environmental Law Program announced that two recent graduates have recently found outstanding environmental law placements. JULES WORSHAM '00 will be working in the Environmental Law Practice Group of the Washington, D.C. office of Vinson and Elkins. V&E is based in Texas and is the nation's #1 law firm for environmental representation of regulated industries, such as oil and gas. AMMIE ROSEMAN-ORR '99, who is currently clerking for Chief Justice Moon, will also be moving to Washington, D.C., to join the United States Department of Justice's Environment and Natural Resources Division in its highly competitive Honors Program. | BLAKE OSHIRO '96 just began his first term in the State House of Representative, joining several of our other alums in elected office. Rep. Oshiro represents the 33rd District (Aiea, Pearlridge, Halawa Heights and Red Hill) and is one of the "new young Democrats." |
