| LARRY FOSTER and ERIC YAMAMOTO have been selected to participate in one of three panels to review judicial performance evaluation results with individual judges as a part of the State Supreme Court's Judicial Performance Program. DEAN FOSTER has been assigned to the Family Court Panel and PROF.YAMAMOTO has been assigned to the Circuit Court Panel. CHRIS IIJIMA's law review article, "Separating Support From Betrayal: Examining the Intersections of Racialized Legal Pedagogy, Academic Support, and Subordination," was just published in 33 Indiana Law Review 737 (2000). RANDY ROTH's law review article, "Understanding the Attorney-Client and Trustee-Beneficiary Relationships in the Kamehameha Schools Bishop Estate Litigation: A Reply to Professor McCall" appeared in the Bishop Estate symposium issue of the University of Hawai'i Law Review, Vol 21, No. 2 . The "Broken Trust" essay co-authored by Prof. Roth and originally printed in the Honolulu Star Bulletin in August 1997 is also reprinted in the law review issue. DAVID CALLIES recently wrote an article commenting on the Hawai'i Supreme Court's decision "In the Matter of the Water Use Permit Applications." The article appeared in the September 9 issue of the Honolulu Star Bulletin. Former VISITING PROFESSOR SHERRI BURR has been named the Dickason Professor of Law at the University of New Mexico where she is teaching Wills & Trusts and Entertainment Law this semester. She spent the summer lecturing and teaching in Spain and South Africa. Her television show continues to be broadcast here on Channel 55. |

| The 2001 Environmental Law Moot Court Team will include new members KAREN ARIKAWA 3L and CHRIS KEMPNER 2L along with returning member LISETTE BLUMHARDT 3L. The Pace University School of Law's National Environmental Moot Court Competition will be held in February 2001. Professor DENISE ANTOLINI is the team's coach. SETH HARRIS 3L and LEILANI TAN 2L will be competing in the 2000 International Environmental Moot Court Competition to be held in late October at Stetson University College of Law in St. Petersburg, Florida. |

| CONSTITUTIONAL AUTONOMY for the University of Hawai'i will be on the ballot in the November 7 general election. To learn more about this important matter, see www.hawaii.edu. Failure to cast a vote on this issue, is registered as a NO vote. ROOM 211 has been converted to an extra law school conference room. It seats 4 people comfortably. Room reservations can be made through Yvonne, the Dean's secretary. The room will be used for On Campus Interviews during the next few weeks. Dean Foster himself painted the room this past week-end! Wall hangings include a legislative proclamation on our 1999 Moot Court Teams' achievements. The 14th Annual UH Law Benefit Golf Tournament will take place this Thursday, September 21, at Ala Wai. LAURA ALBRIGHT 2L is coordinating student volunteers. Carnazzo Court Reporting Co. and JIM WILLISTON '78 have each sponsored a law student team.
