DAVID CALLIES has been elected to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Certified Planners, upon the nomination of the local chapter of the American Planning Association, for his "lasting contribution to the practice and profession of planning." Santa Clara is in the heart of the Silicon Valley, and its law review is noted for its contributions to the field of intellectual property.

LARRY FOSTER and CARLA CARATTO were seen digging ditches at UH Manoa Campus Clean-up Day on Sat. Jan 19.

MARK LEVIN spoke to an assembly of student leaders at Kalani High School in December on tobacco related law and policy. His invitation from the students sought answers to three simple questions: "How did this happen? Who is responsible? And what can be done about it?"

ERIC YAMAMOTO's most recent book "Race, Rights, and Reparation: Law and the Japanese American Internment," co-authored with 4 other professors, was celebrated in Washington D.C. in November. So many people came out to celebrate the book, they ran out of books. Among the stellar reviews was this comment: "'Race, Rights, and Reparation' is a monumental book for five reasons: the collective way it was written, the audience it reaches, the themes it addresses, the pedagogy it employs, and the structure it follows….(the book) represents the collective efforts of five of the brightest legal minds in the Asian Pacific American community."
