Wayne S. Higaki is the Assistant Administrator at North Hawaiʻi Community Hospital, an affiliate of The Queen’s Health Systems located in Kamuela on Hawaiʻi Island. Higaki has served in several capacities at North Hawaiʻi Community Hospital since it opened in 1996 including Vice President of Public Affairs and Vice President of Clinical and Support Services.

Higaki began his professional career in California as a Radiation Therapy Technologist at Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento followed by management roles in Radiation Oncology Departments at Fresno Community Hospital and Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach.

Higaki served as Chairperson of Hawaiʻi County’s Workforce Investment Board and as a member of the Workforce Development Council for the State of Hawaiʻi. He was appointed to three State Health Planning and Development Agency councils including the Statewide Health Coordinating Council, Hawaiʻi County Subarea Council and Certificate of Need Review Panel. He also served as Board President of the Hamakua Health Center and as a member of the Waimea Community Association’s Board of Directors. He is a member of the Mayor’s Healthcare Sustainability Taskforce and the Hawaiʻi Island Healthcare Alliance Steering Committee.

Higaki was born and raised in Honokaa on Hawaiʻi Island, graduated from Honokaa High School and earned an associate of science degree at Kapiʻolani Community College.
