The strongest advantage to Web sites is that the information on them is immediate and available to anyone with an Internet connection. Traffic conditions, weather, and locations of recent earthquakes are examples of information people need right now.

Other advantages of Web sites:

  • Web sites provide up-to-the minute news and information about current events, trends, world, national, and local news;
  • Anyone can freely publish and distribute anything they wish to the greater world.

Some disadvantages of Web sites:

  • Many Web sites do not undergo editorial or peer-review prior to publication. Information is highly questionable in terms of reliability or accuracy;
  • Web site administrators are constantly shifting, rearranging, and reformatting information. As a result, URLs change causing "Link rot" the erosion of stable URLS. Information can also quickly disappear from a Web site without notice.
