Committee's responsibilities:
Traditionally, the area of professional development encompasses the advancement of skills and expertise needed to excel in a profession, primarily through continuing education. If we used this traditional definition, the committee should primarily only target postgraduate working information professionals. Our committee, however, defines professional development in a broader sense, which also includes serving the educational needs of current students as well as alumni.

The committee’s responsibilities include:

• Identify requests related to professional development from alumni and coordinate activities to meet their needs.
• Document activities and presentations related to professional development conducted by student groups and faculty members.
• Document faculty members’ activities and presentations for continuing education.
