Janel Quirante was awarded the Harold T. Pinkett Minority Student Award from Society of American Archivists. Our own Professor Andrew Wertheimer was awarded the 2007 Sarah Vann Award from the ALA-SC. The Program also is pleased to announce that Acting Chair Rebecca Knuth will be promoted this fall to full Professor. Professor Noriko Asato’s “Teaching Mikadoism” was nominated for the Ka Palapala Pookela Award in Nonfiction from the Hawaii Book Academy and the History Book Award from the Association for Asian American Studies.
The UHM Chapter of Beta Phi Mu welcomes the newest initiates: Sandy O. L. Domion, Jessica M. Gleason, Lori Kidani, Gail K. Kuroda, Karen J. P. Laepaa, Joseph Hawley Murphy III, Christine M. Congratulations to our Spring 2007 Graduates who attended commencement in Manoa. The LIS Program would also like to congratulate neighbor island graduate Jessica Gleason who participated in the Maui Community College Commencement exercises, and also gave a speech on the experience.
