LIS Professor Peter Jacso received the Emerald Literati Network Award for Excellence in the Outstanding Service category “for long-standing support and consistently high contributions” to Online Information Review of Emerald Group Publishing, Ltd (formerly MCB University Press). The award recognizes his peer reviewing and publishing activity.
His paper, “Google Scholar: The Pros and the Cons,” published in 2005, already received the most citations among the papers published in this journal since 1999. This paper was cited by journal articles and conference papers -among others- in Internet Reference Services Quarterly, Journal of the American Society for Information Science & Technology (ASIS&T), Journal of Documentation, Library Hi Tech, Information Technology and Libraries, College & Research Libraries, Proceedings of ASIS&T and Proceedings of IFLA.
Professor Jacso has been also active in peer reviewing of manuscripts submitted to Online Information Review, Journal of ASIS&T, Information Processing & Management, Journal of Information Science, the series of the Proceedings of the National Online Meeting and the International Conference of Asian Digital Libraries, part of the Lecture Notes in Computer Science series.
The recognition noted his prolific publication record, including over 500 papers and reviews in the past two decades. He has also received the Louis Shores-Oryx Press Award for his database reviews from the American Library Association Reference & User Services Association, the Outstanding Information Science Teacher Award from ASIS&T, and the Pratt-Severn Faculty Innovation Award from ALISE.
