(Primary degree: Pacific Islands Studies): Of the 30 credits required for this MA, LIS accepts 9 credits at the 400 and 600 levels toward the MLIS. thus only 30 LIS credits for the MLISc are needed instead of 39, for a total of 60 credits for both degrees.

(Primary degree: MLISc): Of the 39 credits required for the MLISc, Pacific Island Studies accepts 9 credits from the following LIS courses so the MA requires only 39 LIS credits:

  • LIS 618 – Government Documents
  • LIS 685 – Traditional Literature & Oral Narration
  • LIS 687 – Information Sources for Hawaiian Studies
  • LIS 688 – Pacific Islands Information Resources
  • LIS 693V – Special Topics in Librarianship (when Pacific-related)
  • LIS 699V – Directed Reading and/or Research
