October 22-24 , 2008

The academic study of Hispanic cinema has often been reduced to an analysis of plots, characterization and other elements also found in written texts. In an effort to focus on those elements which make the communicative properties of cinema unique, this edition of the Conference concentrates on the sonic and the visual.

Some of the conference topics include:

  • Diegetic and Non-diegetic/ambient sound
  • Music and soundtrack composition
  • Voice-Over Narration and Point-of-View
  • Camera techniques and lighting
  • Mise-en-scene
  • Editing and Montage
  • The Construction of Time through Cinematic Techniques
