The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa’s cheer squad competes on RAH! Paula Abdul’s Cheerleading Bowl, airing on MTV, Jan. 3, 2008.
The program is listed at noon and 4:30 p.m. EST on the MTV lineup.
A YouTube video teaser indicates the Mānoa cheerleaders make it to the final round, where they will cheer off against the University of Montana Grizzly squad for the cheer champ title.
Five collegiate teams were selected by pop icon and former Los Angeles Laker Girl Paula Abdul to travel to New York for a competition that tests their physical endurance, dance ability and creativity.
“I wanted to share one of my greatest passions, in a unique and special format that celebrates the true spirit, creativity and athleticism that is cheerleading,” says Abdul, creator and executive producer for the show.
The winning team will be featured in American Cheerleader Magazine and receive a trip for their squad to attend MTV Spring Break 2009.
Mānoa’s cheerleading program has competed in the Universal Cheerleaders Association Collegiate National Championships, placing in the top 10 (watch video of their 2008 finals performance) for the past four years.
