Late UH Alumni Association lifetime members Betsy Nip Wong (BEd ’34 Mānoa) and Kenneth Aloiau Wong (BS in engineering ’29 Mānoa) have been memorialized in a garden at UH Hilo’s ʻImiloa Astronomy Center.
The Wong Garden, made possible through a gift from the Wongs’ three children, was dedicated in September 2008. It features indigenous plants used for medicinal purposes.
Betsy Nip Wong was a teacher and avid gardener. She and her husband, an engineer and businessman, were active in the Hilo community for 68 years.
