I heard the news about Hokule’a and its voyages. I feel inspired by the spirit of the Hawaiian people, having grown up there and grad from UHS in 1960. Margaret Inouye, Sen. Daniel Inouye’s wife, was my teacher in high school. I was initiated into Ho’oponopono by Mornah Simeona’s student Haleakala Hew Lin. It is one of the best ways to make peace and be effective with people in their emotional and spiritual growth. I am now a retired psychotherapist and hypnotherpist in the line of Milton Erickson, MD. I write about my experiences in spiritual life. I feel that the spiritual aspects must be included in social work, for the empowerement of the individual so they can discover their talents and apply them in life. That way they come to believe in themselves and become assets to society. They can help many people. Again mahalo nui loa for yor informative article. O ka maluhia no me oe, My peace be unto you. Yes, “Uncle Pinky” was a great man. I really didn’t know much of his educational background so, this gives me a very good history of his past work. All of us “golden-masters” at Hui Nalu Canoe Club who paddled and raced with him will always have many fond memories of the good-fun times we had together. He never missed an opportunity to share a thought or experience with me as we walked to or from a canoe for practice. Somethings like the Hawaiian diet as compared to diets in Asian countries or how the Eskimos donated spruce logs for our voyaging canoes and how he was impressed with their culture. He was always sharing. Also, he said he was born on leap year day(Feb 29) so, he really was only a teenager. It is an honor to have known “Uncle Pinky” as a friend. Aloha
