Windward Community College’s Gallery ʻIolani presents Aloha Hoʻomaluhia 25 through May 10, 2009.

The retrospective exhibition features 47 artists who participated in the annual Aloha Hoʻomaluhia exhibition at the Kāneʻohe botanical garden over the past 25 years.

Five artists founded the exhibition in 1985 in response both to the beauty of the garden and the potential disturbance posed by construction of the H-3 freeway. Since then, Aloha Hoʻomaluhia has annually celebrated the sublime beauty of nature while addressing the fragility of the ecosystem.

The 25th anniversary exhibition is dedicated posthumously to founding member and former University of Hawaiʻi Professor Jon Wisnosky. It also recognizes the other UH faculty members instrumental in creating this legacy—Adella Buss, Jonathan Busse, Michel Kaiser and Noreen Naughton, whose work is pictured here.

Gallery hours are Monday–Friday and Sunday 1–5 p.m. and Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 6–8 p.m.

Gallery ʻIolani is located adjacent to Palikū Theatre on the Windward Community College campus. Call (808) 236-9155 for more information.
