Former Rainbow Wahine wins Miss Hawaiʻi crown

Former University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Rainbow Wahine volleyball player Raeceen Woolford was crowned Miss Hawaiʻi at the Hawaiʻi Convention Center June 27. She will compete in the Miss America pageant Jan. 30, 2010, in Las Vegas.

Woolford (BA ’08 Mānoa) performed the hula “Mele Kakepakepa Aloha” in the talent portion and spoke about society and reality television in the question and answer portion of the competition.

She plans to pursue a master’s degree in public health with the goal of becoming a physician.

The ʻIolani School graduate was a four-year UH letterwinner, playing in 87 matches in 2004–07. She amassed 211 career digs as a defensive specialist and posted one of the longest serving streaks in the school history—14 consecutive points in a 2005 match against Boise State.
