July 21–Aug. 6—A Will Weinstein conversation series

Former governor of MidWest and American Stock Exchanges and part-time Hawaiʻi resident Will K. Weinstein presents a series of speaker panels on ethics in college athletics, corporate social responsibility, corporate governance and ethical behavior for profit and not-for-profit organizations, including those in legal and medical fields.

Aug. 2—Summer freshman send-offs

UHAA–Los Angeles/Orange County and UHAA–San Diego are working with the UH admissions office to host events in their respective cities to welcome first-year students to the UH ʻohana.

Aug. 5—Shidler alumni mixer at Tsunami

The Shidler College of Business Alumni Association hosts an alumni mixer at Tsunami 6–8:30 p.m. The event is free for Shidler alumni and $5 for guests. There will be free pupus from Tsunami’s in-house restaurant, featuring Aaron Fukuda, former executive chef to Sam Choy. All tabs will be 25 percent off. Attire is business casual. Register online by 3 p.m. Aug. 3.

Aug. 27—CASAA’s wine pairing dinner at ʻElua

Sept. 12—Behind the Scenes of UH Athletics

See the areas of Stan Sheriff Center that are not open to the public. Run the bases on the Les Murakami Stadium turf. Visit training and workout facilities used by our student-athletes.

The UH Letterwinners Club has scheduled a behind the scenes tour of the UH Mānoa athletic facilities 1–4 p.m.

Meet the coaches and current student-athletes, enjoy ono food and beverages, watch the telecast of the UH vs. Washington State football game live in the Stan Sheriff Center Ed Wong Hospitality Room; attend the Rainbow Wahine volleyball match against the Stanford Cardinals and more.

Only 500 tickets are available. Admission is $50 per person, $15 for children age 4-12. Download event flyer for more information.

Sept. 12—UH vs. Washington State tailgate

Join UHAA for the UH vs. Washington State tailgate at Safeco Field in Seattle.

Cost is $30 per UHAA member, $35 per non-member and includes live entertainment, buffet lunch, updates from UH Mānoa Chancellor Virginia Hinshaw and Athletics Director Jim Donovan. Rainbowtique will have UH merchandise available for purchase.

Sept. 18—UH Letterwinners Club golf tournament in Las Vegas

The UH Letterwinners Club hosts a golf tournament at the Sunrise Vista Golf Course on Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada. Registration deadline is Aug. 1. Download the registration form.

Sept. 19—UH vs. UNLV activities

Join UHAA for the UH vs. UNLV tailgate at the California Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. For information about the tailgate and travel packages, visit www.UHalumni.org.

Cost is $85–$95 per person and includes game ticket, admission to the UH tailgate party (live entertainment, wine, beer, soda and delicious island food) and transportation to and from game. Rainbowtique will offer UH merchandise for sale.

Sept. 19—SLS anniversary celebrates 40 years of success

Second Language Studies alumni—mark your calendars for SLS Anniversary: Celebrating 40 Years of Success 12–3 p.m. at the Campus Center Ballroom. Lunch will be served.

Off-island alumni are encouraged to attend and even give a talk.

Oct. 15—Shidler Hall of Honor banquet

The 2009 Hall of Honor Awards banquet will kick off the Shidler College’s year-long 60th anniversary celebration and honor four outstanding alumni for their contributions to the college and the community.

The event at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort and Spa, Coral Ballroom will celebrate six decades of international excellence and reflect on the history and the growth of Shidler College of Business and Hawaiʻi’s business industries.

Oct. 24—Department of Anthropology 75th anniversary dinner

UH Mānoa’s Department of Anthropology celebrate its 75th anniversary with a full slate of activities under the theme, “Looking Back, Projecting Forward.”

Events include free colloquia throughout fall semester and a day-long symposium and evening banquet on Oct. 24, held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Society for Hawaiian Archaeology.

The dinner will be 5:45–9:30 p.m.at the Waikīkī Aquarium; tickets are $40 for adults, $25 for students and $15 for children 12 and under. Register online or call (808) 956-7153 for more information.
