UHAA members gather for annual member lunch

The UH Alumni Association held its 2009 Annual Member Lunch in June at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. The event featured renowned photographer PF Bentley (BEd ’75) who gave a presentation about his career titled From Waikīkī to the White House.

Wine tasting raises money for law scholarships

The William S. Richardson School of Law Alumni Association held its annual meeting and wine-tasting event on June 18 at the Plaza Club. The event raised a record $3,747 for scholarships.

Alumni and friends of all backgrounds and ages attended the Shidler Alumni Association’s Dine Around event at the Royal Hawaiian Center.

More than 70 attendees got to know one another while tasting signature dishes and beer/wine pairings from award-winning restaurants Wolfgang’s Steakhouse, P. F. Chang’s China Bistro and Paradiso Seafood and Grille.

The evening concluded with dessert on the lanai overlooking the Royal Hawaiian Hotel’s lūʻau festivities.

A big mahalo to Shidler alumni board member Kirk Horiuchi, Toby Tamaye of AT Marketing and Nani Hirosane and her team from the Royal Hawaiian Center.


Architecture alumni close the year with gathering

The UH School of Architecture Alumni Association held its annual general membership meeting and dinner reception at the Outrigger Canoe Club on June 27.

Travel Industry Management alumni

TIM International hosted the 2009 spring and summer School of Travel Industry Management graduation reception in May.

TIM recognized 2009 Outstanding Student Award recipients and dean’s list honorees. Micha Coloma was selected as the TIM student representative, and Phyllis Lai and Iris Lim were selected as student marshals for Mānoa commencement ceremonies. A slide show honored the 75 TIM spring and summer graduates.

To assist the new alums in their job searches, Kim Brooks, TIM internship and career placement coordinator, compiled a résumé book of the graduates, which was sent to TIM alumni.
