More than 450 UH alumni and friends gathered at Seattle’s Safeco Field in a tailgate to build enthusiasm for the Warriors.
It worked! The UH team scored a 38-20 win over Washington State on Sept. 12 at Qwest Field in Seattle.
Stephen “Braddah” Gomes ’83 emceed the event and Kaulele entertained the crowd. Special guest speakers were UH Mānoa Chancellor Virginia Hinshaw; Athletics Director Jim Donovan ’83, ’96; and UH Alumni Association Executive Director Janet Bullard ’82.
The UH cheerleaders were on hand to fire up fans, and Rainbowtique sold spirit merchandise. UHAA and partner GEICO gave away logo items and the GEICO Gecko made an appearance.
Special thanks to Wayne Okimoto ’71 and Dawn Mallory ’73, UHAA–Pacific Northwest chapter president, and all the PNW chapter volunteers who assisted with decorating, registration and the UHAA membership table.
