After a year’s absence, the Leeward Community College student-produced publication Ka Manaʻo returns as a magazine. It features news writing, photos and creative works by students such as poetry and art.

In the March 2011 issue, Elizabeth Daligdig writes about the Filipino Phrase of the Week podcast produced by the college’s Sulong Aral program. Amanda Barr and Suzette Farnum report on the retirement of longtime faculty members, including an art professor who has been at Leeward since its opening in 1968.

Avid movie buff Andrew Outwater recommends five romantic comedies that are great for any time of the year. Photographers Paul Topp and Brandon Hicks share a collection of photos of recent treks to the North Shore and Europe. There is also poetry and speeches written by students in the English and Spanish classes.

The new Ka Manaʻo is a merger of the former Ka Manaʻo campus newspaper and Harvest literary magazine, both of them produced by classes. The advisor is Stanley Lee; the staff includes about 20 student writers, photographers, graphic designers and a webmaster.
