Chef Sato prepared three tuna recipes for life members to taste
University of Hawaiʻi Alumni Association ʻOnipaʻa members gathered at Kapiʻolani Community College’s ʻŌhiʻa Building for the 2011 Life Member Event on March 4, 2011.
The event included a cooking demonstration by Grant Sato (AS ’97 Kapiʻolani), a chef instructor in the Kapiʻolani Culinary Institute of the Pacific.
Sato taught the 80 UHAA life members and friends in attendance how to slice ʻahi into three grades and make three delicious recipes.
After the demonstration, members tasted the ʻahi carpaccio with garlic aioli and capers, ʻahi katsu with pohole fern relish and spicy ʻahi inari while enjoying each other’s company.
Special thanks to Kapiʻolani Chancellor Leon Richards (MA ’70, PhD ’74, MA ’00 Mānoa) and the Kapiʻolani Community College Culinary Program for hosting the annual event.
