Mainland UH Alumni Association chapters in four states sent new UH students from their areas off to the islands in style this summer.

UHAA–Colorado hosted its annual Freshman Send Off picnic Aug. 7. Sai Yamagata from L&L Hawaiian BBQ in Aurora provided the food. Almost 30 future students and parents met alumni, got guidance on life at UH, talked story and bonded with each other before heading to Hawaiʻi.
In Washington, more than 80 students, family members and alumni gathered July 23, 2011 at Enatai Beach Park in Bellevue for the annualUHAA–Pacific Northwest UH Alumni and Student Send Off picnic. There was enough great food to feed the crowd and share with a homeless tent community.
UHAA and Friends–Las Vegas members welcomed five scholarship recipients from the Las Vegas area on June 25, 2011 during the annual send off party at the home of scholarship committee chair Morton Fox. Students and their families mingled with chapter members while enjoying a barbecue feast prepared by Gisela Fox.
