Doctor of Philosophy Degree

Students entering with an MS degree in Biology, Marine Biology/Sciences (or equivalent):

  • Prior to enrolling in the Fall, the Curriculum Committee will assess the student for knowledge covered in 601/602 with the possibility of waiving theses courses if the student has sufficient knowledge in the subject area.
  • Courses prescribed by the student's Interim Committee and/or Dissertation Committee
  • 800 (dissertation)

Students entering with a BS/BA degree:

  • BIOL 601 and 602 (4 credits each) (Must pass with a "B" or better)
  • Statistics or Biometry Course (may be waived by Curriculum Committee if undergraduate coursework is found to be sufficient)
  • Courses prescribed by the student's Interim Committee and/or Dissertation Committee (600-700 level courses, Maximum of 6 credits of 400 level courses, 699 maximum of 6 units will count toward the degree)
  • 800 (dissertation)
