A popular extra-curricular activity with students is exploring the islands through camping. Maui County provides excellent camping areas, some run by the National Parks Service. One such campground just past Hana next to the Seven Pools, part of the Haleakala National Park. Cabins are available for rent within the crater of haleakala volcano as well as high elevation Poli Poli and by the black sands of Wainapanapa Beach Park.

Camping doesn't stop with Maui, students can easily board the ferry to the islands of Molokai or Lanai and camp by the beach on these secluded islands.
