What's In This Book?
This book contains many opinions and facts. This book contains some tips, suggestions and considerations about raising children. This is not a comprehensive book about raising children. It contains only tidbits about specific parenting topics and special occasions in raising children. Some of the tips, suggestions and considerations in this book may be controversial and biased.
Over the years, many parents have asked me for advice about their children. On a person to person basis, I have given them this advice to many a satisfied parent. This book contains the elements of these common topics of discussion in a format that is more detailed than can be given in a face to face discussion.
How To Read This Book
Have an open mind when you read this book. My opinions are not necessarily shared by all experts. You have the right to disagree with anything in this book.
As parents, we all have common values, but we also differ in many ways. Some of my values may not be shared by everyone. Some of my suggestions may seem rude and insensitive to you. Remember that this book contains mere suggestions. Don't feel bad if you would rather not follow these suggestions.
Some of my suggestions might make you feel like a bad parent. Please don't feel this way. No parent or doctor is perfect. We are always learning something new, so we must try our best to improve. Considering the opinions of others is always an opportunity to possibly learn and improve.
About the Author
I am the parent of three children and a pediatrician. Pediatrics is the branch of medicine specializing in the health care of children and teens. This includes child development, behavior, growth, guidance, education, preventive medicine and the treatment of illness and injury.
