Child and Adolescent Mental Health Division

In October 1994, under the terms of the Felix Consent Decree, the State of Hawai`i agreed to establish a new system of care for children and adolescents with disabilities who are eligible for and in need of educational and mental health services.

In August 2000, in response to the decree, and the fact that social workers are regularly involved in coordination and delivery of services to children and adolescents, the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Division and the the Myron B. Thompson School of Social Work collaborated to develop Hi`ilei, a specialized social social work training program designed to enhance the quality and effectiveness of mental health services for children and adolescents in Hawai`i.
