Vanessa Zepeda, a 2014 graduate, described Terasakiispira papahanaumokuakeensis, a new Bacteria genus and species from Pearl and Hermes Atoll, Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. Check out the video below:

$1 million NIH Grant

The National Institutes of Health ( NIH) grant spans four years to study the functional genomics and interactions of bacterial species within biofilms. The team led by Tung Hoang consists of seven graduate students and one postdoctoral researcher. Read more here…
