Education

Postdoctoral: Natural Product Total Synthesis; Synthetic Methodology. Marcus A. Tius, Advisor.   University of Hawaii at Manoa
Ph.D. Synthetic Organic Chemistry: “Liposome Polymerization and Applications Using Novel Aminooxy and Carbonyl Lipids”. Michael H. Nantz, Advisor. 2004 University of California, Davis
B.A. Chemistry 1999 California State University, Sacramento
B.A. Psychology 1993 University of California, Davis

Research Summary

My expertise lies in synthetic organic chemistry. Specifically, I have specialized in natural products total synthesis. Natural products total synthesis is the reconstruction of complex targets found in nature, conducted in the laboratory from simple commercially available materials. This is undertaken for many reasons but two of the main reasons are to address scarcity problems and to develop new elegant ways of assembling complex carbon frameworks.
