Fig 4. An infrared photograph of Lake Kauhako shows the lake situated at the base of heavily wooded crater walls. The height from the top of the crater to the lake is ~130 m. Trees overhang much of the lake’s shore, but over half the surface is visible here. Bear in mind that the lake itself extends another ~250 m down! [back]
