kahaloaheader1

A long time ago, a man named Kahaloa lived in Nanakuli on O'ahu. He did not believe in or pray to any of the akua for guidance or protection. One night Kahaloa had a strange dream in which a small stone image of a fish called to him, "Kahaloa! Kahaloa! Wake up! Come and get me. I am very cold her by the small pile of rocks on the hill."

The next night the stone spoke to him again, "
Kahaloa," said the stone, "there is a large school of 'ōpelu fish in the bay. You must prepare the nets and canoes."
