Formal search process begins for three UH Manoa positions
The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs has initiated the formal search process for the regular appointment of three executive positions—director and publisher of UH Press; dean of the School of Pacific and Asian Studies/assistant vice chancellor for International and Exchange Programs and university librarian.
The current director and publisher of UH Press is retiring at the end of 2012, and the interim dean of SPAS/assistant vice chancellor for OIEP is retiring next year. The library is currently being led by an interim appointment. These three searches reflect Mānoa’s continuing commitment and efforts in moving the university forward in the hiring of deans and directors.
“I am delighted to announce these searches as part of our effort to create a permanent leadership team at UH Mānoa who can continue our progress,” said Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Reed Dasenbrock.
“At the same time, Bill Hamilton, retiring after serving as director of the UH Press for 25 years, and Edward “Ned” Shultz, who is retiring after a distinguished faculty career of 39 years at UH Mānoa including serving as interim dean of SPAS for the past six years and interim AVC for the past three years, will be missed. I want to take this opportunity to thank them for their distinguished careers at UH Mānoa,” said Dasenbrock.
- Denise Konan, dean of the College of Social Sciences, is chairing the SPAS/OIEP Search Advisory Committee.
- William S. Richardson School of Law Dean Aviam Soifer is chairing the University Librarian Search Advisory Committee.
