Daniel Fischberg

Daniel Fischberg, chief of palliative medicine for the John A. Burns School of Medicine, has been named the 2013 recipient of the Gerald H. Holman AAHPM Distinguished Service Award.

The award recognizes outstanding and dedicated service to the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM).

Fischberg received the award in New Orleans on March 15, 2013, at the meeting of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Fischberg is the medical director for the Pain and Palliative Care Program at The Queen’s Medical Center and serves as the chief of the Division of Palliative Medicine and a professor in the Department of Geriatric Medicine at the John A. Burns School of Medicine.

He currently serves on the board of directors for Kokua Mau, Hawaiʻi’s award winning hospice and palliative care organization, and the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Fischberg has been recognized for excellence in both teaching and patient care. In 2007, he was selected The Queen’s Medical Center’s Outstanding Physician of the Year.
